Scarlett Johansson (born November 22 1984 New York City New York, U.S.) American actress and singer whose acting variety earned her acclaim across a range of genres ranging from period drama to thrillers and action. Johansson was raised within New York City as the daughter of an architect, and also the owner of a production company. She was the twin sister of Hunter and her were among the youngest of siblings. When she was a kid she started acting. Actually, at seven she was already auditioning for commercials in a variety of different ways. She enrolled in the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute shortly following and then went to the Professional Children's School, Manhattan to further her education. In the Off-Broadway play Sophistry she worked with Ethan Hawke. She then appeared in her first film on screen in North (1994) and was directed by Rob Reiner, at age nine. Johansson subsequently appeared in Just Cause (1995) but her first breakthrough came with Manny & Lo (1996) which was a film about abandoned sisters who escape. The Horse Whisperer (2000) the film in which she played a teenager with a deformity because of an accident earned her critical acclaim. Then in Ghost World 2001 (as the young, sarcastic teenager Rebecca) Johansson received the attention of a whole new generation. The actress who won an award has been one of the main cast members of the series. Besides appearing on the series she also has a successful stage actor. She performed with stunning grace in Wildflower and other plays. Renee Felice Smith's path into entertainment began at a very young age. She was drawn to performing as a child. Smith landed a first role at the young age of six, with her parents' encouragement. She was in an Dannon yogurt commercial. Similar to many young actresses she began her career in theatre. As she worked on other projects in the USA she made her debut on stage in Wildflower. Her education was in the Stonestreet Studios Conservatory of the New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
